Bluebonnet Casita Rally

Bluebonnet Casita Rally 2021 has come and gone. We had 103 trailers with travelers from as far away as Arkansas, Georgia, Colorado, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, and, of course, our beloved State of Texas.

Wednesday, April 21, we kicked off the rally with an evening catered meal of barbecue, followed by live music from The Biscuits & Gravy Band. We danced and sang throughout the evening.

Thursday morning, after social coffee time and a morning devotional, we had free time to explore the area around the Hill Country. That evening we were entertained with a guest talent show and jam session. Our social hostess held a game evening.

We woke Friday morning to a chill in the air and drizzling rain, so we made a few minor adjustments to our schedule of events. A solo and single fellowship was held in the Rally Hall as we anxiously awaited for the Little House Customs Store to arrive so we can begin purchasing supplies for mods to our Rigs. Our version of an open house - an Egg Parade - was slower than normal due to the weather but blue balloons were graciously welcoming guests. Our newest vendors got a chance to show off their mods. Katy’s Casita Closets and Castia Works hitches were ready for sales and installs. The afternoon cleared and sunshine greeted the 2nd half of the Egg Parade. That evening we honored our veterans, military families, and first responders followed by a Fiesta with a catered Mexican dinner, margaritas, and karaoke.

Saturday was our announcement of 2022 rally and our play day! Shawn & Bob Sawin, after 7 years as hosts, announced their retirement and introduced the new hostess Mimi Huth. She took the podium dressed in her pirate garb to announce next year’s dates and answer questions. Mark your calendars for April 19-24, 2022 for next year’s fun, fellowship, and frolicking. Next year's rally will start on Tuesday allowing us to have an extra day of fun.

Our Saturday competitions got started mid-morning with horseshoes, followed by a full sunny afternoon of ladder ball. We had a swap meet and some great bargains were sold and acquired. The grills were hot and ready for our late afternoon cookout of hamburgers. Later our volunteers were thanked, door prizes, raffle prizes, and awards were given out. A surprise of ice cream sandwiches were passed out before the rally was closed for the evening. We’d like to thank Casita Enterprises for their support and donations. And, of course, our Rally wouldn’t be possible without our amazing team of volunteers. Thank you for all you do. We want to wish Mimi and her team the best and are looking forward to the next chapter of the Bluebonnet Casita Rally. As your rally hosts these last seven years, it has been a wonderful, joyful time with many blessings.

Love to you all from,

Shawn & Bob
