Pineknot II 2006

As some of you know, I had a personal tragedy in my life in March of 2006. Mary, my wife of forty years, passed away after a very long struggle with heart disease. Being distracted from planning an RV rally, I posted on the forums and inquired about the moods of others, asking if there really was a desire for a PineKnot-II. The response was overwhelming and I became enthused about organizing it again.

Camp Tonkawa Springs had been decided upon and we urged people to continue to register. The dates of October 12-15 was set. We eventually had forty-five trailers registered. Circumstances prohibited some from attending, but with a couple of drop-ins, we ended up with about forty.

Lindy handled the registration. Tom Trostle led us in a Dutch Oven demonstration on Thursday , starting a tradition for us that continues until now. Also, this was the first year we had the Crime Stoppers Band from Lufkin, Texas who performed for us that evening. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed them and they are also scheduled to be at PineKnot VII in 2011. We had the usual “Round-table Discussion: Talk about anything mechanical/technical relating to our Eggs” on Friday. Then—more scrumptious food at the Potluck, after which Robert and Karen Elling performed their history skit. We returned to Barnhill’s in Nacogdoches for their buffet feast on Saturday. We returned to Tonkawa for the Egg Tour and a Leftovers Potluck. Most of us pulled out Sunday morning, looking forward to the Fall of 2007.
