Bluebonnet Casita Rally

Bluebonnet Casita Rally 2017 was a success!

We had 168 rigs, 3 in cabins, 1 in her car, and 1 using a Clam as a tent. We had 40 newbies.

Registration Wednesday, April 19th afternoon had campers picking up their envelopes with their name tags, door prize tickets, and information on activities of the week. This was followed by a meet and greet meeting to introduce our hosts Shawn, Bob, and Brad and to share updated information. We enjoyed a catered meal by Rudy's and some stayed after clean up for social time and games in the hall.

Thursday started with coffee and sweet rolls in the rally hall courtesy of Tom and Martha Jo and their volunteers hosting the event daily. A daily morning devotional meeting was held in the rec hall with Bob and Wayne leading. Sessions began with a discussion of genealogy hosted by Signe. She has held three sessions over the years so she updated information for those who attended before as well as getting some started on this road.

The afternoon session was Trailer Talk led by Larry where he discussed the care of our trailers as well as answering questions. Prior to a potluck dinner, our Veterans were honored in a moving ceremony. Robert also sold Veteran’s hats and flags throughout the rally with the money to be donated to the VA hospital in Dallas for Care Kits.

Friday morning Joan and Tooky co-hosted a gathering for solo campers to share information as well as to find support. A large group of veteran campers, as well as newbies, attended. This was followed by Part 1 of the Egg Parade. Blue balloons indicated those trailers that were open to show mods or new technology. Enthusiastic campers eagerly enjoyed the morning session. An hour was put together for Newbie Time for a specific discussion for  Newbies to ask questions of experienced campers.

The afternoon had the other half of the campground open for Part 2 of the Egg Parade. A Fiesta was held in the rally hall that evening with wine and beer tasting. Hors d’ Oeuvres were provided and Karaoke singing and dancing added to the merriment.

Saturday began with a delicious pancake breakfast served up by a team of hardworking early risers led by Tom and Martha Jo! Thank you all. The morning continued with an open discussion of business wrapping up necessary items and announcing the dates for next year. Karen held a crafts session called Oodles of Doodles. She also had an Art Contest to be judged by three judges. Afternoon activities in the drizzle were Swap Tables, a Ladder-ball competition, and a horseshoes competition. The last activity was our hamburger cookout followed by a  great Ice Cream Social. Yum!

Bluebonnet Casita Rally 2018 will be held at Skyline Ranch RV Park in Bandera, TX April 18- 22, 2018. We hope to see you there.
